Let me guess. Your feet burn at night. Or they tingle. Or worse, they're going numb, and you've caught yourself checking the floor because you can't quite feel where you're stepping. Somebody told you, "That's just neuropathy, learn to live with it," and handed you a prescription that made you foggy and didn't fix a thing.
My Friends, I have a problem with "learn to live with it."
Neuropathy is a symptom, not a sentence
Peripheral neuropathy means the nerves in your hands and feet are damaged or starved. The question nobody seems to ask is why. Blood sugar problems are the big one. But I also see B12 deficiency (especially in folks taking metformin long-term), chronic inflammation, gut problems that block nutrient absorption, and side effects from certain medications. Treat the cause, and you give those nerves a fighting chance.
What we do differently
Here in Oak Forest, we use the Stimpod, a non-invasive neuromodulation device. It's painless (really, most patients are surprised), with no needles and no drugs. Patients can be treated in the office twice a week, or rent a Stimpod to use at home on a structured daily schedule.
At the same time, we dig into the why: labs, nutrition, blood sugar and inflammation. Because calming the nerves without fixing what's damaging them is like mopping the floor while the sink overflows (and nobody has time for that).
Do me a favor
If you or someone you love is dealing with burning, tingling or numbness, don't wait until you can't feel the gas pedal.
Get your blood sugar and B12 checked.
Look at your feet daily, especially if you're diabetic.
Come see the Stimpod for yourself. The demo and consultation are free.
Call (708) 907-0700 or visit our Neuropathy page. We see patients from Oak Forest, Tinley Park, Orland Park, Midlothian, Crestwood and Northwest Indiana.
